Qatar joined the world to observe the World Food Safety Day, on June 7. The day was chosen by the United Nations in 2018 to mark the many benefits of safe food.

To observe the day, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) is organising several activities, including a competition for school students to draw expressive paintings on food safety. Five paintings will be awarded prizes during a ceremony. The Department of Food Safety and Environmental Health at the Ministry of Public Health conducted awareness-raising activities and distributed publications, gifts and advertising materials to visitors at Hamad General Hospital and a number of commercial complexes.

The World Food Safety Day contributes to raising awareness of and supporting actions and plans for safer food on a healthier planet and an important opportunity to highlight the health implications of unsafe foods. The objective of the World Food Safety Day is to be part of four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSECOORD) 4 Sustainable Development Goals.
