The State of Qatar participated today in the 60th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), which was organized by the United Nations (UN) Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna.
Qatar's representative at various international organizations in Vienna HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired Qatar's delegation to the meeting. Assistant Director of the Drugs Enforcement Administration at the Ministry of Interior Brigader-General Amr Al Humaidi was also present. HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, while delivering Qatar's speech at the meeting, called on the international community to commit to agreements on combating narcotics. His Excellency highlighted the pivotal role of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in that regard. His Excellency noted that Qatar has financed the biggest programme in the UN's history to protect youth from the dangers of narcotics, including.
HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani added that Qatar has always been committed to all international agreements on narcotics. Qatar's statement also warned of the consequences of the attempts of some parties who are trying to legalize the use of drugs for recreation.
