Qatar is taking part in the 14th edition of the International Show of Agriculture, Machinery and Fishing (SIAMAP 2019) in Tunisia, with a delegation headed by HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie (pictured).

Qatar is participating as a ‘country of honour’ in this session of the agricultural show, in response to the invitation of Tunisia, represented by the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fishing, within the framework of the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries. Qatar’s participation comes in as part of implementation of the National Food Security Programme (QNFSP) and the desire to enhance local production by introducing Qatari companies participating in the pavilion of Qatar on the latest technologies being displayed in SIAMAP 2019 from all over the world.

The Qatari participation also aims at enhancing the import opportunities of food products in order to meet the international trade standards recommended by the national strategy for food security, through diversifying the sources of imports for each food commodity, and also to acquaint Tunisian products and promote national imports. Qatar is participating in SIAMAP 2019 with a 700sq m pavilion, which is an opportunity to introduce its latest preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, introducing in this context the eight stadiums of the World Cup and displaying documentary films about the implementation work from the early days until the completion.

On the sidelines of the show, the Minister of Municipalities and Environment met with Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resource and Fisheries Samir Taieb. During the meeting, they discussed ways of enhancing co-operation between Qatar and Tunisia in areas of common interest.
