In honor of the great achievements of the State of Qatar, the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has raised the country’s largest banner to mark Qatar National Day on December 18, 2011.

Festooned with the Qatari national color – annabi or maroon – the banner measures 108 meters by 18 meters and depicts the QTA logo as well as the logo of Qatar National Day.The banner has been set up on the West Bay facing wall of the Exhibition Center on Lusail Street, one of the busiest roads in Doha and a high profile location. QTA chairman Mr. Ahmed Al Nuami said the banner captured the spirit of Qatar and showed the organization’s loyalty and thanks to the wise leadership and vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

“The QTA offers its highest congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah Al Thani and His Highness Sheikh Tammim bin Hamad Al Thani on the occasion of our national day and to thank him for the support he has given to the growth of the tourism and hospitality industry in the great State of Qatar,” Mr. Al Nuaimi said. “The QTA also congratulates the State of Qatar on this momentous occasion.”

Mr Al Nuami said the National Day celebrations this year came at a time when Qatar’s efforts in the tourism sector were being recognized around the world. He said the QTA had embarked on a development strategy for the industry between 2011-2016, which reflected the aims and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030. “Our goal is for tourism to become a powerful contributor to the GDP during the next few years,” Mr. Al Nuami said.
