Qatar's ministry of municipality and urban planning has awarded UK-based Atkins a three-year contract worth more than $108m to support delivery of multi-billion dollar transport and infrastructure programmes.

According to the terms of the deal, Atkins is to establish a central planning office to coordinate current and planned road, rail, metro and other major transport and infrastructure projects, including elements associated with the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
