Department of Architecture and Urban Planning (DAUP) at Qatar University, College of Engineering (QU-CENG) recently organized a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). The event included research studies and projects done by the students and faculty members that are related to MIA.

The work of the students in DAUP included many research studies and projects related to the Museum of Islamic Art, which are in line with Qatar's future vision 2030 and depend on the economic, social, environmental and human dimensions. Commenting on the event, Prof. Hamouda said, “The ceremony and the exhibition of the students' projects reflect the influence of art on their designs, which reflects the mission of the Museum of Islamic Art as a center of knowledge and inspiration that enlightens the world of Islamic art overpassing all the historical barriers”.

Projects presented indicates how CENG’s students and faculty members demand creativity, innovation and quality in its outputs, which falls in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Moreover, displaying the projects to the public allows the college to improve the quality and content of projects. Dr. Fodil Fadli, Head of DAUP said: "This event is unique to us as a department since it involves faculty members and students showcasing the best projects related to the Museum of Islamic Art”. Dr. Fadli emphasized that the students' projects and designs represent solutions that take into account sustainability, cultural and social aspects in a local context in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

CENG Dean Prof. Abdulmajid Hamouda, CENG Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies Prof. Abbas Amira, DAUP Head Dr. Fodil Fadli, as well as students and faculty members of QU and CENG, attended the event.
