Qatar was the biggest supplier of natural gas to Spain in the month of September, Spanish energy regulator CNE said.

Qatar provided 25 percent of natural gas supplies in September, followed by Algeria with 24 percent and by Nigeria with 20 percent, CNE said last night in an emailed statement.

The statement said: “In the month of September, gas imports from Algeria were reduced noticeably, both in terms of supplies through pipeline and liquefied natural gas."

For the nine months through September, Algeria was the biggest natural gas supplier to the Spanish market with a share of 30.6 percent, followed by Nigeria with 21.4 percent and Qatar with 16.1 percent, according to the regulator.
