Three important tournaments reached their conclusion last night as part of the Aspire Zone Foundation Ramadan Sport Festival – the Aspire Embassies Tournament, the Men’s Football and the Aspire Staff Futsal Tournament.

Commenting on the Ramadan Sport Festival competitions, Mr. Hussain Al-Qahtani, Corporate Communications Manager at Aspire Zone Foundation said: “we are delighted with the great atmosphere that we’ve been able to help create at Aspire during this Holy Month and we’re proud of the success of today’s competitions. Our goal at Aspire Zone Foundation is to support collaboration and wellbeing amongst the local community. Those who have visited Aspire and experienced these competitions will know we have succeeded in achieving this goal. We thank all participants for their efforts and wish the very best of luck to the remaining teams for this unique Ramadan Festival.”

Aspire Embassies Tournament: Qatar wins the cup after defeating Morocco 8 – 2

In the presence of Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Neima, assistant director of the Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hussain Al-Qahtani, Head of Corporate Communication at Aspire Zone Foundation, Mr. Abdullah Al Khater, Events manager at Aspire Logistics, and Mr. Tariq Al-Abdullah, Venue Manager at Aspire Zone Foundation, the Aspire Embassies Tournament – organised for the first time this year – reached its conclusion on Tuesday night. This was after an excellent final between players representing Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a team from the Moroccan Embassy.

At the referee’s whistle, Qatar’s were pronounced winners by a margin of 8 goals to 2. As champions of this first edition of the tournament, the Qatar team was then awarded the cup by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Neima who also handed our medals to both teams.

Qatar wins the Aspire 2 [].jpgCommenting on the tournament and the festival, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Neima, assistant director of the Department of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “We would like to thank Aspire Zone Foundation for laying on this tournament, the first time it has been played, and for doing such an excellent job in organising it. I would like to congratulate the Qatari team on this well-deserved win and also invite all the embassies based here in Qatar to participate in future tournaments.”

Ali Al Hashmi, a player in the Qatari team, commented on the victory: “we are delighted with the result and extremely pleased to have taken part in this tournament. Each member of our team enjoyed every single game and we were incredibly determined. I want to thank each of my teammates for their efforts, and we look forward to playing more games together in the future.” With all the games played, the results in full are Qatar in first place, India in second and Morocco in third.

Al Waab triumph after a closely fought game

The Men’s football competition also reached its conclusion on Tuesday night with a final match played between Al Waab and PSG, with Al Waab ending up 4 – 3 winners. The match was closely fought throughout with each team doing their best to be crowned champions. Both teams gave their all, but in the end Al Waab was able to control the match and close off with a win.

Hussein Ali Ahmad, a player for Al Waab said: “It was an amazing tournament and great competition. Firstly, I want to congratulate my fellow team mates on a great performance. We did everything we could to secure this win. A huge thank you to Aspire Zone Foundation for organising and supporting this Sports Festival. We look forward to participating again in future tournaments.” Mr. Abdullah Al Khater, Events Manager at Aspire Logistics awarded cups and medals to both teams.

With all the games played, the results in full are Al Waab in first place, PSG in second and Kafod in third.

Qatar wins the Aspire 3 [].jpgTeam “Aspartans” win Gold in the Aspire Staff Futsal tournament

In the final match of the Aspire Zone staff tournament, team “Aspartans” were crowned victors after defeating team “Pillars” in the final match by 3 goals to 1.

A series of exciting, back-to-back matches led up to the final. In the first game, PSG defeated Pillars 5-0. Team Mssd and the Aspartans then drew 1 – 1. Based on the points accumulated as a result of these games, the Aspartans and Mssd qualified to face one another in the final match. Aspartans player Tomoyuki Shimakawa commented on the win by saying: “the final match was our best game in the tournament. Through our team work and hard work we were able to defeat our opponent. I would like to thank Aspire Zone Foundation for organising this excellent tournament which highlights the positive role for sport to strengthen communication and help build morale between colleagues.”

Team Golden Square reaches the semi-finals of the beach soccer

The first round of the competition drew to a close on Tuesday night with four teams qualifying for the final stage of the tournament. From Group A, team Murack and Al Gharafa Falcons are through. And from Group B, teams Africa Stars and Barcelona are through. In the next round, Murack will play Barcelona and Africa Stars will play Al Gharafa Falcons

Strong Performance continues in the Women’s Futsal

On Tuesday night two matches were played in the Women’s Futsal. In the first match Al Sadd met Barcelona, which ended with Al Sadd wining 2 – 1. In the second match, Qatar and Merangi tied 1-1. The Aspire Zone Ramadan Sports Festival was .launched on the 22nd of June. During the events, 1,200 participants will compete in 12 different sports tournaments for men, women and children. The Festival activities take place every day from 9:30pm until midnight.
