Qatargas organized a Desert Plantation Day at the Umm Qarn Nature Reserve some 30 kilometres north of Doha. Over 150 Qatargas employees participated in this ‘green’ initiative held on April 27.

Nearly 130 ‘Wild Sidr’ seedlings were planted in an area stretching nearly 1.5 kilometres inside the reserve.  Organized in collaboration with the General Directorate of Nature Reserves, the initiative aims to protect the biodiversity of the State of Qatar for generations to come.  This is set to become an annual event taking place in April each year, covering different areas in the State of Qatar.

Mansour Rashid Al-Naimi, Qatargas Public Relations Manager said: “We are very happy with the enthusiastic participation of our employees in this initiative. This is a clear demonstration of their personal commitment to environmental protection and preservation. We also thank the General Directorate of Nature Reserves for their support and cooperation.”

“The Desert Planation Day aims to promote a greener Qatar and preserve our country’s indigenous plants for future generations. Initiatives aimed at protecting the environment form an integral part of Qatargas’ Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. Our efforts in this area are fully aligned with the Environmental Development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Qatargas is totally committed to the responsible management of the environment in which we operate. As a responsible energy operator, Qatargas is keen to promote pioneering environmental solutions to further improve the environmental performance of our LNG and other production facilities. Earlier this month, Qatargas organized a beach clean-up day during which Qatargas employees cleaned up a two kilometre stretch on the Al Fuwairit beach, 80 kilometres north of Doha.
