Over 500 Qatargas employees participated in the Qatargas Learning Olympics, a fun and interactive learning event held recently in the Company’s Doha Head Office building and at the Ras Laffan Administration building.

The primary objective of the Qatargas Learning Olympics was to promote understanding of the Learning &Development Department and encourage good learning behaviour. The event also helped to enhance the understanding of the core competences through various activities.

The Qatargas Learning & Development Department provides services to the organization through its four divisions – Qatarization and National Development; Training & Education; Competence & Performance Management; and Leadership Development & Succession Planning. The fundamental role of the Department is continually to build the necessary knowledge, skills and expertise of the Qatargas workforce to support the business strategy and contribute towards achieving its vision of becoming the World’s Premier LNG Company.

To achieve the objectives, while making the event an enjoyable learning exercise, the Learning & Development Department had put together a variety of fun interactive activities based around learning with a sporting theme. A word search puzzle was distributed to employees in both Doha and Ras Laffan in the run up to the event.

Participants also had the opportunity to register for Diversity Games, a training tool used by many major corporations across the world. The one-hour training session was repeated during each day and was a great ice-breaker to help individuals and groups discover their unique ways of understanding and interacting with the world.

Also on the sidelines of the event, the Medical Department ran a ‘Pit Stop Area’, where they offered a general health check for employees, provided advice and answered health related questions.
