Place Vendôme, a mixed-use development north of Doha, is on track for third quarter of 2017, said Arabian Business. Part of the new city of Lusail, the development will cost $1.25bn and include serviced apartments, entertainment zones, two five-star hotels and up to 400 retail outlets when it is completed.

Inspired by the central Parisian neighbourhood of the same name, the development is intended to draw high-end consumers, Construction Week Online reported. According to United Developers, the company behind the project, it will contain an “exclusive section dedicated to unrivalled luxury and the most elite brands.” Place Vendôme will be 800,000 sq m or more than double the entire footprint of Villaggio Mall. The Place Vendôme is one of more than a half-dozen large retail centres that are expected to open in Qatar in the coming years, including Doha Festival City and the Mall of Qatar.
