Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) and a delegation of Businessmen from the UAE emirate of Ras al-Khaimah (RAK) last night held a meeting in Doha aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and briefing the visiting delegation about investment opportunities in Qatar, specially after winning the bid to host the 2022 World Cup.
HE QCCI chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani chaired talks on the Qatari side, while the Chairman of RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RAKCCI), Yousef Obaid Al Nuaimi headed his country's delegation.
Addressing the meeting, HE QCCI chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, who chaired talks on the Qatari side invited the participants to take advantage of the available opportunities, referred to the economic progress Qatar is witnessing.
He called for the establishment of bilateral business relationships and strategic partnerships that would maintain the sustainable and comprehensive development in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
For his part, Al Nuaimi hailed Qatar's local, regional and international achievements.
He also highlighted the evolution of the trade exchange volume and joint investments between the UAE and GCC states.
The UAE is Qatar's second largest trading partner. The trade exchanges between the two countries recorded 63% increase between 2007 and 2009, Al Nuaimi said.
Challenges resulting from the global financial crisis dictate that the two sides to enhance joint action, he concluded.
