As part of its’ social responsibility strategy for the 2016-17 season, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) kicked off its’ first social event by visiting four local schools to celebrate the students’ return to school for the new academic year.

The visit involved making stops at four different schools, which included Soumaya Independent Primary School for Girls, Al Muntaza Model Independent School for Boys, Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Model Independent School for Boys, and Abdullah Bin Turky Al Subaey Model Independent School for Boys.

In total, QFA distributed more than 1000 backpacks and school supplies to assist in preparing the students for the year and motivate them for the beginning of their new school year. Each student left with a backpack filled with colouring books, pens, pencils, notebooks, erasers, calculators, and many more items every student needs. The day ended with the students posing for group pictures with the QFA delegation while excitingly showing off their fun QFA branded backpacks.

Students and teachers enjoyed a day of entertainment, food and music. Students that attended the event also received information about upcoming football matches for the Qatar National Teams and were invited to come to the stadium with their families to watch the matches. The objective of this event coinciding with the arrival of the new academic year is to teach the children that starting another school year is an event to celebrate. Many of QFA's social responsibility initiatives focus closely on schools and students of young age, as it is a tool for QFA to teach students about the importance of football and the positive values it brings to one’s personality at such a young age.

The event resonated with positive feedback received by the children, teachers, school administration and students’ parents. QFA values education and truly believes that it is mandatory and the number one factor to every child's prosperous future. School management of the four schools expressed their happiness and pride for seeing the students’ positive attitude and participation in the event. Organising this event falls under QFA’s 2021 vision, in which the organisation aims to strengthen its’ role in engaging all segments of society in football related activities. A wide-range of programs and activities are organized as part of the annual QFA events calendar that inspire and encourage young children to participate in football, the most popular sport in the world.
