Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) is taking part as a lead sponsor of Euromoney Qatar Conference 2019. The 8th edition of the leading finance and investment conference will be held on the 8th and 9th of December 2019. The conference, which is co-hosted by Qatar Central Bank, is held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

H.E. Mr Ali Shareef Al-Emadi, Qatar’s Minister of Finance, H.E. Mr Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, and H.E. Sheikh Abdulla Bin Saoud Al-Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank, will be in attendance.

This year’s Euromoney Qatar Conference will focus on how the resourceful and capital-rich Qatari economy is transforming its already sizeable role in the global economy to meet the new demands of 21st century business and finance. Delegates will hear from Qatari ministers, financial and business leaders, in addition to industry practitioners, investors and globally influential commentators at the forefront of digital transformation. Over two days, the conference intends to give a coherent and consistent strategic overview of the challenges and opportunities that the coming years will bring.

QIB’s Chief Strategy & Digital Officer, Mr. Constantinos Constantinides, will participate at a panel during the conference titled: The Future of Banking. The panel will discuss several topics such as the evolution of traditional banking, the difference between digital transformation and digital disruption, how technology can be leveraged to build financial sector competitiveness, open banking and its importance, as well as global regulators’ understanding of technology and cybersecurity.
