Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) held its official orientation event for 129 successful participants to the 2019-2020 National Leadership Program cycle.

Placing at the top of the competitive applicant pool, incoming participants from the Executive Leaders, Government Leaders, and Rising Leaders programs commence a year of transformative growth and leadership development in line with the Centre’s mission to elevate national management capabilities through the advancement of human capital. Bringing together incoming Qatari professionals, faculty and staff members, the event introduced attendees to the Centre’s framework and objectives for the upcoming year in addition to an overview of the upcoming modules, learning journeys, and year-round QLC activities. A series of interactive team building workshops allowed participants to meet fellow colleagues and forge important connections.

Founded upon the directive of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in 2010, QLC is a premier national establishment that seeks to develop leadership talent amongst Qatari professionals who work in executive positions in government institutions as well as public sector and private sector organizations. Each QLC program contains a bespoke assortment of academic modules covering topics, some of which include: Advanced Negotiation, Change Management, Creative Leadership, Corporate Context, Financial Management, Government Leadership, Marketing Analytics, Leading a Business Unit, and Strategic Corporate Policymaking in Dynamic Economies.

Remarking on the high-caliber of incoming participants, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of QLC, said: “Each year, upcoming and established leaders in Qatar’s public, private and government organizations compete for entry into QLC’s elite development program, which offers a multifaceted and broadly applicable leadership methodology. QLC graduates go on to assume positions at the vanguard of our national development efforts. It is their commitment towards sustainable and conscientious leadership practice, coupled with QLC’s emphasis on capacity-building from within that leads to their continued success as the country’s top decision-makersin their respective fields.”

Enrollment in one of the three programs is preceded by a rigorous one-month evaluation process that takes into account work experience and academic background. Admission is determined by the outcome of a set of merit-based assessments of leadership capabilities, including panel interviews with top experts and leaders representing different sectors. The Centre also implemented a holistic assessment before the panel interviews’ stage. The final participant intake is thereby comprised of a top percentile of qualified applicants, having set themselves apart by superior levels of qualification and dedication.
