Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) took part in the 4th Qatar Patient Safety Week, featuring a wide range of health education activities at its health facilities and other national events. Over a week, each Workers’ Health Centre sets up two health education booths, one for doctors and nurses and the other for technicians.

Other activities included health education lectures, role play, poster design contests, and quiz bowls, according to QRCS. The competitions have been received enthusiastically by visitors of the three Workers’ Health Centres, which are managed and operated by QRCS under the supervision of Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). QRCS also contributed to Public Awareness Day, organised by MoPH at the Qatar National Library (QNL), which involved a panel discussion and exhibition.

In a conference organised by Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute (HHQI), two QRCS medical personnel participated in a workshop on “Fundamentals of Patient Safety”. QRCS’ Medical Affairs Division general medical director Dr Hassan Ali Qassim emphasised safety as key to patient care and a fundamental component of quality assurance, optimised performance, environmental safety and risk management. “This year, we focused on a number of health-related issues such as community education, first aid, handwashing, diabetes, smoking, good dietary habits, exercising, and vaccination against communicable diseases,” he added.
