Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) Wednesday honoured members of Qatar national team for finishing fourth with eight medals at the 12th Arab Swimming Championship held at Hamdan Aquatic Complex, Dubai.
QSA held the ceremony at Gharafa Stadium on the side-lines of the GCC Beach Games currently in progress in Doha. Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and QSA President Khaleel Al Jabir, and senior officials attended the event. The Secretary General lauded the national swimmers for their fine show in his speech. He was elated by the performances of younger swimmers and encouraged them by saying they represent the future of swimming for Qatar. He also praised parents for encouraging their children to pursue swimming and win laurels for Qatar.
Out of Qatar's eight medals, Yacob Al Khulaifi won two gold medals, one silver and bronze; Walid Rafiq Daloul won three bronze medals and Omar Hisham one bronze medal. A number of team members recorded theri personal best times at the Arab Championships, QSA said. The Secretary General honoured the national team's Head of Mission Ibrahim Al Rumaihi, coach Yuri Falassof and swimmers Yacob Al Khulaifi, Walid Dalloul, Omar Hisham, Noah Khulaifi, Abdul Aziz Al Obaidli, Hisham Abdulrahman, Fahd Mohammed Hussein and other swimmers. Egypt finished first followed by Kuwait and Algeria at the 12th edition.
