RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) recently honoured 106 employees during its annual long-service award ceremony for their dedication and contributions to make the company the success story that it is today.

The honoured employees included 62 people, who completed 15 years of service in RasGas and 44, who completed 10 years in the company. Out of the total number of awardees 41 were Qatari nationals, including members of the Executive Leadership Team of RasGas.

Addressing the employees at the ceremony organised at the company headquarters in Doha, Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, Managing Director of RasGas said that employees are the most pivotal asset of the company and that is why “people" became one of the strategic choices of RasGas.

“RasGas has always believed that its continued success depends upon the skills and dedication of its people. The company regards the development of its personnel as a key element in our efforts to enhance skill levels that will ensure that we have adequate competencies to run a safe, reliable and environment-friendly production facility,” he said. 

Al Mohannadi pointed out that the hard work of employees continues to play a vital role in RasGas reaching new achievements in all areas of work. He added that RasGas offers challenging and rewarding work opportunities for nationals and expatriates, through its focus on Qatarization as well as on employee development.

“After the stone laying of Barzan Gas Project last year, the work on this project is progressing at a great pace and the first phase is expected to be completed in summer 2014,” he said.

Al Mohannadi recalled that the Barzan Gas Project, managed by RasGas, has been named the Oil & Gas Year Qatar 2012 Finance Deal of the Year. The Barzan Project Finance Team had also received ‘2011 Global Deal of the Year’ award at the Euromoney Project Finance awards in London in February this year.

He said that the new state-of-the-art headquarters of RasGas, which offers a working atmosphere that reflects the company’s core commitment to protecting the environment, was recently awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, an honour given for high performance green buildings that are environmentally compatible and provide a healthy work environment for its occupants.

Al Mohannadi also thanked the employees for the extraordinary safety performance milestone last year as for the first time ever since production commenced in 1999, RasGas completed a year without a serious injury or a Lost Time Injury (LTI) in 2011, that too after working 37-million man-hours. He said this clearly demonstrates the continued commitment of its employees towards creating an incident-free workplace.
