RasGas will provide year-long sponsorship to an eco-friendly recycling programme initiated by the Doha English Speaking School (DESS).

In support of the project during the last year, RasGas provided financial aid for the purchase of recycling bins for aluminium and plastic waste and honoured the winners of the school’s recycling poster competition, organised as part of the environmental programme.

On October 13, RasGas employees shared their skills and expertise with 400 primary students aged 6-11 years in a presentation on the importance of recycling. “We were delighted to support a programme that creates environmental awareness among the young generation, as the children will be able to take this message to their homes and that will pave way for a more sustainable world,” said RasGas Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) and Quality Group manager Brett Doherty.

“Children are the best ambassadors for social habits supporting change. Our Corporate Social Responsibility programme supports environment and community cornerstones,” he said.

Expressing delight in launching the new initiative at the school, DESS head teacher Andy Yeoman said: “It is important that we teach our children the importance of recycling, and we believe strongly in starting this service in the school as an important step towards encouraging our children to respect the environment at an early age.”
