Ras Laffan Industrial City’s Community Outreach Programme (RLIC-COP) sponsored the National Day celebrations of Al Daayen Municipality which included a variety of programmes that enthused patriotic fervor in the community.

With a vision to create a respectful and trustworthy partnership between the energy industry and community, the RLIC-COP offers sustainable initiatives for the benefit of the local community in Al Khor and Northern Areas of Qatar. RLIC-COP was established by the seven leading energy companies operating in Ras Laffan Industrial City: Qatargas, RasGas, Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Dolphin Energy, Oryx GTL, and Qatar Shell, who come together to form the COP committee.

Commenting on this initiative, Abdulaziz Al Muftah, Ras Laffan Industrial City Director and COP Chairperson, said: “The RLIC Community Outreach Programme is proud to support Al Daayen Municipality in celebrating the State of Qatar’s National Day which is a great opportunity for all citizens and residents of our country to come together and share in the joy and spirit of this significant occasion.”

On his part, Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al Qahtani, Director of Al Daayen Municipality, said: “I would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to RLIC-COP for its support to the National Day celebrations organized by Al Daayen Municipality. This is a clear demonstration of the fruitful cooperation that exists among different government and corporate establishments in the country. Furthermore, this highlights the significant role played by RLIC-COP in supporting the national and social events of the state.”

Programmes organised by Al Daayen Municipality to celebrate the occasion included a flag-hoisting ceremony on 16th December which was attended by dignitaries and senior citizens from Al Daayen, municipal officials, army music bands, and members of scout teams from different schools in the region. One of the major attractions of the event was an aerobic show by Qatar Aviation Club. Other activities included the inauguration of a senior citizens’ corner as part of the celebration, municipal officials’ visit to Al Shafalah Centre to distribute gifts to its inmates and a drawing contest for school students.

In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy 2011- 2016, RLIC-COP contributes towards three strategic areas, these include, education and capacity building, Health, Environment and Safety Awareness, and Cultural Heritage. By furthering developing these key areas, RLIC-COP is able to contribute towards the long-term sustainability of the local community.

The COP office was established in Al Khor in 2011 to serve as the focal point for building closer community relations through effective two way dialogue and meaningful partnerships that meet community needs.
