Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), has been recognized by international institutions and organizations working in the fields of social development and humanitarian affairs following the successful hosting of the World Humanitarian Summit – Global Youth Consultation (WHS-GYC) in October.

As a member of QF, ROTA believes in the importance of unlocking human potential, as well as the development of human capacity in-line with the Human and Social Development Pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030. ROTA was invited to join the United Nations (UN) in a meeting held in Berlin in September to discuss the main proposals and Synthesis Report of the WHS, as well as provide a road map for the Summit taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2016. The report included the youth recommendations, which were developed during the WHS-GYC in Doha.

ROTA continued its international participation in supporting global youth needs by attending the second edition of the Social Innovation and Global Ethics Forum 2015 (SIGEF) in Geneva in October to discuss the strategies to empower young people by addressing their specific needs and enhancing their active participation. In addition, the meeting offered a platform for stakeholders to discuss the proposal for the formation of a Global Alliance to support youth.

ROTA’s participation in the Geneva meeting was significant as it represented a great addition to the discussions due to its vast experience in supporting and empowering youth locally, regionally and globally. Mr. Essa Al Mannai, Executive Director of ROTA, commented on these global activities saying: “ROTA is a key player and an important partner for humanitarian work around the world. This global interest in ROTA’s ideas and initiatives is strong evidence that we are on the right path for human and social development.”

He added, “ROTA’s vision based on education and youth empowerment has found a strong position in the international community, especially since ROTA is dealing with the most affected areas around the world.” ROTA was chosen by the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) for its tremendous efforts in supporting the youth, in particular, EMPOWER, ROTA’s flagship youth conference, which has taken place annually for seven consecutive years. EMPOWER has built a great reputation for enabling young people, from all over the world, to voice their opinion on the global sustainable development agenda.
