HE the Chief of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Masoud Mohamed al-Ameri has endorsed the annual statistical statement on cases referred to various courts and decisions taken thereon during the past year. The statement shows that the number of claims considered before courts in 2013 amounted to 81,169 cases with rulings passed on 66,020 cases - rulings were passed on 80% of the cases.
The figures show that rulings in civil lawsuits, labour litigations and urgent cases for the year 2012 amounted to 16,780 cases with verdicts issued on 15,394 cases. The number of the criminal cases considered before courts in 2013 totalled 48,648 while the number in 2012 decreased by 2,432 cases. The statement included a number of rulings issued during the summer months (July - August - September) which totalled 6,923, an increase of 1,823 over the year 2012. Al-Ameri praised the effort made by judges and their assistants.
