United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari shareholding company and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, has sponsored the sixth edition of Qatar University's Corporate Social Responsibility report, entitled "Citizenship".

Qatar University honored UDC for its efforts, presenting the report’s gold sponsor with the CSR Award during a ceremony held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, also awarding HE Sheikh Ahmed Bin Jassem Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce as CSR person of the year. The Citizenship report highlights the efforts of Qatari institutions and their success in overcoming the blockade, examines their achievements in support of the nation, and sheds light on their contributions to sustainable development and the accomplishment of the four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, President of Qatar University, presented the award to UDC’s Executive Director – Commercial, Mr. Abdulrahim Al-Ibrahim in recognition of the company's efforts and commitment to adopting the highest social responsibility standards in terms of; its commitment to protecting employees’ rights and social welfare, its efforts to mitigate the negative impact of its construction projects on the local environment, its provision of various social services, its embracement of disclosure and transparency principles, and its endorsement of corporate governance standards.

UDC’s CSR strategy rests on four pillars: the company’s responsibility towards its employees, the community, the environment and its commitment to corporate governance standards. UDC believes that attracting and retaining the best possible people is important. Therefore, the company has provided a workplace in which people would want to work, a work environment and culture where all employees are treated fairly, and a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community at large in Qatar.
