The inauguration of Al Wakrah Stadium will take place ahead of the Amir Cup final on May 16, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced on Twitter on Thursday.

It also said that tickets for the opening ceremony and final are now available at http://tickets.qfa.qa. The 40,000-capacity arena will host matches through to the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals and features a "boldly futuristic shape". Last month, it was reported that grass turf was laid in record time - 9 hours 15 minutes - at Al Wakrah Stadium, the second proposed host venue for Qatar 2022. Khalifa International Stadium in Doha is the first completed Qatar 2022 tournament venue.
