Wyndham Grand Regency Doha, in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society, proudly hosted a “THINK PINK” Breast Cancer Awareness Event October 30, 2014, inviting breast cancer survivors to give their testimonials and share their life changing experiences in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event was customized in all things pink from ribbons and balloons to a buffet and gift items offered to all participants. Colleagues and associates from Wyndham Grand Regency Doha and Qatar Cancer Society joined together to show their support and to learn about the disease and how to create awareness within the community. Guests like Sandee Thompson and Lenny Lopez also opened up to share their stories.
“I had the perfect cancer,” said Sandee Thompson. “I was able to save my life by having a mammogram done at an earlier age than doctors recommend. If I had not done the mammogram I would not be standing here today.” Lopez added “I have been cancer-free for eight years. I faced so many obstacles; I did not cry when I was told about my diagnosis, but when I had to tell my son I might die the tears kept falling.” Breast cancer is a terrible disease, but listening to the survivors generates a real appreciation for the strength of survivors and potential for a cure.
“At Wyndham Grand Regency Doha we believe raising cancer awareness is imperative, which is why we organize the event yearly for our employees through our ‘Count on Me!’ commitment to be responsive, respectful and deliver great experiences,” said Ayman Lotfy, Wyndham Grand Regency Doha general manager. “The worldwide fight against cancer is constant and we are delighted to be part of it and support it all the way.”
