Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) venues and facilities are now ready to receive thousands of participants on National Sports Day. People interested in visiting Aspire Zone on National Sports Day can find full details of all the activities on offer on the day through the “Life in Aspire” mobile app, www.aspirezone.qa – or any of the Aspire Zone Foundation’s various social media channels.

Here is a full guide to make it easier for you to choose your preferred activity on the day:

If you are an early bird, you can enjoy our morning activities

The National Sports Day programme at AZF consists of a wide variety of sport activities, to suit all ages, from early in the morning. The main activities are:

Family activities

  • 7AM: Registration open for the Fun Run: Visitors can take part in a 3K Fun Run around Aspire Zone, which starts at the fans’ entrance at Aspire Dome and crosses the Aspire Zone precinct, enabling those who take part to explore the park. The activity will run from 9AM until 11AM.
  • 8AM: Family Bike: Families will be able to enjoy the bikes in Aspire Zone, situated behind the children’s playground area next to the Aspire Dome. Aspire will provide two types of bikes: a four-seater bike for families, and single bikes for individuals to ride. The activity will run until 11:45AM. No registration is required.
  • 9AM: 5,000 steps journey: The 5,000 steps journey will start at Aspire Park, next to the Burgeri restaurant. The walk consists of 12 stations at which participants will receive valuable tips and advice about physical activity and leading a healthy lifestyle. Participants will receive a booklet at the start line and will need to collect a stamp at each station along the way to indicate that they have completed the whole route.
  • 9AM: Aspire Zone family activities: Bring your children to pitch 10, opposite Aspire Park, to enjoy basketball, volleyball, football tournaments and more exciting sport activities.

Men’s activities

Activities will run from 8AM until 12PM

  • Beach soccer: For men above 18 years old. Eight teams will compete for the championship on Aspire Zone’s sand pitches.
  • Basketball: For men above 16 years old. Half-basketball court for 3x3 matches, organised under the supervision of the Qatar Basketball Federation.

Ladies’ activities

Activities will run from 9AM until 10:30AM at the ladies club

- Zumba: Ladies can enjoy their share of AZF activities on National Sports Day, including the opportunity to enjoy exercising to the Latin beat of Zumba classes. This exclusive action takes place in a private space at the ladies’ club. Zumba classes combine Latin dancing with physical exercise, helping to maintain a healthy heart and blood pressure, as well as improve fitness overall. No registration is required.

Kids arriving early will also be able to enjoy their share of the activities:

Activities will run from 8AM until 12PM at pitch 10

  • Judo for kids (8-12 years old): AZF will be organising judo training for boys and girls. Following a number of warm-up exercises, those taking part in this training will be able to learn more about judo techniques under the careful guidance and supervision of professional instructors.
  • Football for kids (7-12 years old): Exciting mini-competitions under the supervision of coaches and referees.

You can never be too late, enjoy our afternoon activities

10AM to 4PM

  • Wall climbing: This activity aims to teach participants mountain climbing skills under the supervision of licensed climbing instructors on an outdoor climbing wall. The wall climbing will take place near the outdoor pitches, behind the Grand Heritage hotel.

If you prefer to exercise indoors, the Aspire Dome will host activities for the entire family:

  • Beat the champion: A variety of indoor activities, including a 20m sprint to see if people can run as fast as Usain Bolt, a throwing speed test to see if people can match Major League baseball pitchers, a vertical jump test to see if people can fly like Michael Jordan, and a 200m bike race for friends and family to race one another. At the end of each test, participants will receive a certificate recording how their results compare to a number of athletes and world champions.  
  • The Multi-Sport Skill Development programme: a variety of exciting challenges and activities for all family members, including gymnastics and aerobics.
  • A number of family-focused activities – Aspire Active:  A number of exercises for the whole family, designed to help build up endurance and muscle mass, and to enhance flexibility.
  • Football skills: A series of football-related activities will put you to the test, including goal accuracy, speed tests, agility tests and more. This activity is open to everyone.

Aspire Zone Foundation invites all members of the community to Aspire Zone precinct to celebrate National Sports Day this year, and to take part in the exciting programme of activities throughout the day.
