Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) P.Q.S.C., Qatar’s next generation bank, on the occasion of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, recently organized an informative awareness session on breast cancer for the Bank’s staff at al khaliji’s head office, conducted by the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Screen for Life Program. The session was held in line with al khaliji’s commitment to the health, wellness and high morale of Society.

During the event, a special lecture on Breast Cancer introduced the Bank’s staff to the systemic disease’s causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention measures. Complementing the lecture, informative brochures, as well as pink ribbons and bracelets were distributed to attendees, in order to help them raise awareness about Breast Cancer in their community. As part of the initiative, Screen for Life team also registered eligible ladies for a mammogram test, which is designed for the early detection of Breast Cancer in women 45 and above.

The Screen for Life program is held in the framework of the Ministry of Public Health’s National Cancer Program, which brings the latest discoveries and best practices in the health care of cancer patients to Qatar. The program focuses on Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening, and helps raise awareness about the importance of routine examination and early detection of diseases such as cancer and its impact on longevity and wellbeing. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed globally in October, as an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. The campaign’s mission is to help those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.

Through its proactive community initiatives, al khaliji is reaffirming its commitment to the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility, while effectively contributing to the realization of Qatar’s National Vision by making a positive impact on the development of society and its welfare.
