With Arab Games Doha 2011 only a few weeks away and the excitement building, the Arab Games Organising Committee (AGOC) has taken its outreach activity to another level – with a Blackberry Messenger Trivia competition and interactive mall sports competitions to win prizes and purchase tickets.

As part of the ‘BBM’ competition, AGOC is now sending recipients a question on the upcoming regional multisport event daily, offering two free tickets for each correct answer. Answers to the questions can be found on the official website of Arab Games Doha 2011: http://www.arabgames2011.qa/newen/.

Upon adding the BBM pin 277ADC26, sports fans will be able to receive a new question each day to which they will respond via sending an email to ag-bbm@olympic.qa.

“Over the past few months, we have focused on involving the various communities in Qatar through schools activities, social events, athlete engagement, and social media, as well as communicating via text and BBM messages,” said Hassan Abdulla Al Mohammadi, Manager, Promotions, AGOC.

“Excitement is building up already, so this is a great way to further create opportunities for sports fans to watch their favourite athletes perform, as they learn more about Arab Games Doha 2011,” he said.

This weekend sees the start of a series of interactive mall road-shows starting at Landmark Mall. The sports themed events for all ages give the local community the chance to try sports from the Arab Games with the chance to win tickets on-site. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event. Attractions include foosball table, basketball, a goal scoring wall, punching bag, two sets of Playstation 3 games, and hula hoop station.

The fun-filled event will run from 4-10 p.m. starting Thursday, November 24 – Saturday, November 26.

“Targeted at families and young adults, this activity will encourage all to enjoy smaller, fun versions of sport in the lively setting of a mall, and at the same time, give them a chance to win tickets to a world-class sporting event,” said Al Mohammadi.

As the countdown to the Arab Games continues, the mall series will be present in Villagio Mall and City Center Mall from the December 1 – 10, giving shoppers and sports fans the opportunity to sample the competitive action as well as meet some of the leading athletes set to compete in Arab Games Doha 2011.

One of the most anticipated sporting events in the Arab world, Arab Games Doha 2011 is scheduled to run from December 9th-23rd, and is to feature 29 sports and over 6,000 athletes and officials from 21 Arab countries.

Living up to its stellar track record of having successfully hosted international sporting events, like the Asian Games, IAAF World Indoor Championships, Diamond League, Asian Cup, World Volleyball Championships, and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Championships, Qatar is all set to share its unrivalled experience to create a games of Olympic standards this year around.
