The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ participated as a strategic project management partner in the first edition of “Big 5 Qatar”, an International Building & Construction Show being held in Doha from 24 to 26 September. The exhibition showcasing the latest technologies of construction and innovation in Qatar is organised under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

As a strategic partner of the Big 5 Qatar exhibition, Ashghal presented the latest technologies used in the construction sector. Engineer Amal Al Mulla, from the Technical Office of Ashghal, gave a presentation about Ashghal initiative “Construction Excellence” which she considered as the Public Works Authority’s legacy, of creating a better industry that is working more collaboratively to improve construction and project delivery by demonstrating and sharing best practices and innovation.

She added that learning, teamwork and sharing best practices between different sectors will ensure continuous improvements and a better built environment. Al Mulla also said: “Adopting lean methods in construction, health and safety, construction waste recycling are examples of the commitment already made to meet the Qatar Vision 2030 utilizing latest technology in Project Management, recycling, and BIM (Building Information Modeling). Technology, digital and BIM all have important contributions to make, to improve productivity and also disrupt the current delivery model through innovation to deliver superior performance.”

Ashghal exhibited its vital programmes including implementing some of the mega infrastructure projects abroad, bringing Qatar to the list of developed countries. The Public Works Authority considers the Big 5 Qatar exhibition as a platform for thousands of stakeholders to invest in the construction sector and to explore future opportunities in Qatar’s infrastructure development.

It is worth mentioning that the Big 5 Qatar exhibition features a series of workshops presented by experts in the construction industry on the neo trends, tools, applications and techniques used in architecture and interior design across infrastructure and building sectors. The exhibition aims to help companies understand the construction market through a chain of events that will promote the exchange of country-specific knowledge and best practices followed in the industry.
