Closure and diversion on part of Al Shamal Road

The Public Works Authority announces that it will implement a closure of the four southbound traffic lanes on a part of Al Shamal Road travelling to Doha, starting approximately 1 km after Exit 35 (Al Khor Exit) at the intersection of Al Shamal Road with Al Khor Road, as shown on the attached map. The closure will start on Friday 3 June and will last until the end of 2017, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department. With this change,the four southbound traffic lanes on Al Shamal Road will be closed for a total distance of 1.3 km. The four northbound lanes on Al Shamal Road were previously closed and diverted to an adjacent road as part of Ashghal’s construction work in the area.
 
Ashghal will divert the southbound traffic (towards Doha) to a newly constructed diversion road adjacent to the closed section of Al Shamal Road, which provides four lanes for road users, as shown in the below map. The speed limit will be reduced from 120 kph to 80 kph along the diversion route to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce. The closure is required to allow for the construction of the bridge at the intersection between Al Shamal Road and the New Orbital Highway, as part of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route Project, contract four.
 
Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.

Traffic diversion on Al Gharrafa Roundabout

The Public Works Authority announces that it will divert the traffic on Al Gharrafa Roundabout, to a new 3-leg intersection as shown on the attached map. The diversion will start on Friday 3 June 2016 and will last for a period of 18 months. Drivers travelling on Yazeed Bin Talha Street and Al Uqab Street that usually enter the Al Gharrafa Roundabout from the west & north approaches can access the diverted intersection via the new traffic signal located at the intersection of Al Hazm Street and Al Gharrafa Street, as shown in the below map.
 
Drivers coming from south of Al Gharrafa Roundabout and heading to the local area west of the Roundabout can continue on Al Gharrafa Street and turn left at the same Al Hazm Street signal,as shown in the map. Ashghal is implementing this diversion to enable the construction works of Al Gharrafa North Extension (GNE) underpass as part of Dukhan Road East Contract- Khalifa Avenue project. Ashghal will install road signs to advise motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, which has been reduced to 50 kph, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
