Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, recently organised the “Souq Maqtoura” program, the First rotating market to support entrepreneurs. This was held for the first time in collaboration with “Aspire” from 12 to 14 May 2016.

The “Souq Maqtoura” program is the first-of-its-kind, designated for Qatari youth owning virtual companies on social platforms, specifically in the SME field. About 40 Qatari youth participated in the first episode of the program and experienced life in a booth for the first time. The main objective of the program was to support the youth in showcasing their projects and products and move them to a real display area rather than highlighting them on social media platforms only. This concept met with great success and appreciation from both exhibitors as well as visitors.

On this occasion, Reem Al-Sowaidi, General Manager of Bedaya Center, said: “The main objective of Bedaya Center is to enable entrepreneurs in the fields of professional development and entrepreneurship through diverse mediums and methods. These include workshops for basic and advanced skills, which will help them adapt to the local market and launch their projects and products. Today, we witnessed the participation of 40 Qatari youth,  men as well as women with ages varying between 16 and 24 for the first edition of “Souq Maqtoura” program at Aspire Park”.

“Several youth have started their business through Social Media platforms. We contacted and invited them to participate in the first version of “Souq Maqtoura”, which resulted in a great turnout. These participants showcased and sold their products as well as tested and tried for the first time the actual feeling of a real souq and real interaction with the audience. They also introduced their products to the local market," she added.

"At Bedaya, we aim to offer a wide selection of services for young entrepreneurs in order to guide them and sharpen their skills. We offer programs that enable them to take their first steps toward success through best solutions that help them achieve their goals and objectives, thus allowing us to fulfill the needs of the SME sector in line with Qatar National Vision 2030," concluded Reem.
