More than 1,200 athletes from 150 countries participated in the event.

Botero, the member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed his pleasure at sporting relations with Qatar and the exchange of ideas to serve the interests of both countries in sports in general and athletics in particular, stressing that Qatar is witnessing significant and successful achievements in athletics, where it successfully took its development to the Asian continent. Botero affirmed his keenness to benefit from Qatar's technical experiences in athletics, saying Qatar's achievements in sports and athletics are the result of the work, programs, and strategic vision to continue to develop the game.

The two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing the administrative and technical communication to serve athletics in the two countries. For his part, Al Hamad said bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Colombia will always be appreciated and interesting for a prosperous future for athletics in both countries and the world, adding that Qatar's significant achievements in athletics and sports are the outcome of sponsorship and great support of the wise leadership.

He added that QAF works continuously for honoring the Qatari sports in all platforms, expressing his appreciation to the Colombian official for his support for world athletics in order to develop the game, hoping that there will be joint work to serve champions of the game in the future for the benefit of Qatari, Colombian and Asian athletics.
