Acclaimed Iraqi artist Dia al-Azzawi’s latest sculpture, titled “Hanging Gardens of Babel” is unveiled at MIA Park. The iconic artwork is an homage to ancient Iraq, and refers to the self-destruction of human civilization.

The sculpture follows al- Azzawi’s major exhibition ‘I am the cry, who will give voice to me? * Dia al-Azzawi: A Retrospective (from 1963 until tomorrow)’ that was on show simultaneously at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the QM Gallery Al Riwaq earlier this year. In addition, al-Azzawi also has two iconic sculptures on show at Hamad International Airport that celebrate travelling in the modern age.
