Doha College, one of the most long-standing internationals schools in the country, has seen another generation of students off to pastures new, at its inaugural Graduation Ceremony held at the Shangri-La Hotel Doha.

Last year, the college clocked its greatest set of examination results in its history. These results have enabled the 90-strong cohort of Year 13 students, and an additional five Year 12 students, to continue their journeys on a variety of pathways. These range from attending universities in the UK, US, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, Pakistan and Qatar to joining the Royal Navy or completing military service. Equally impressive is the diversity of university courses the DC graduates are pursuing, including medicine, engineering, law, architecture, arts, sports and exercise science, physiotherapy, psychology, criminology, history, politics, economics, accounting, actuarial sciences, film, photography, computer science, robotics, linguistics, acting, geography and zoology.

Some of the students had been at Doha College for most of their education, and leaving it behind is brings mixed emotions. Keyona Fazli, who joined the school aged four, shares her impressions about Doha College: “Graduating with my year was truly a remarkable experience. At the ceremony, watching people who I've known for fourteen years and those who I am so close with, yet have only known for two years, made me so happy. These are the people who I have grown up with, and Doha College is the place that has made me the person I am today. I am excited for what is to come at university, but I will always look forward to coming back in the holidays to visit my parents, and of course Doha College, the place I call home.”

Doha College offers the widest array of subjects for A Levels in Qatar, delivering consistently excellent results in both core and creative subjects. Their offer was further broadened last year, with the introduction of three new subjects, namely environmental science, sociology and travel and tourism, as well as the BTEC Diploma in sports coaching.

Claire Cecil, Careers and Guidance Counsellor at Doha College, lists some of the offers that were extended to the students: “Our class of 2018 have place offers from a wide range of prestigious global universities including the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Manchester, University of Edinburgh, St Andrews University, Georgetown University in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, University of Austin Texas and King’s College London. We wish all students the very best of luck in securing their final university places.”
