International scientists, experts and specialists as well as specialised global centres in the field of food-water-energy nexus will participate in a seminar in Doha.

The event is being held as Qatar hosts the third meeting of the Global Scientific Panel on Food-Water-Energy Nexus on April 10-11 this year. The event will be preceded by a scientific seminar to review innovative global experiments in the field on April 9. Prominent among the participants include the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) from the Federal Republic of Germany, University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol Water Company PLC from west London, ROC Connect from the United States of America and other specialised organisations from Europe and the US. 

The decision to organise the third meeting and scientific seminar in Doha follows execution of the decisions of the second meeting, which was held in Berlin last month. The agenda of the meeting was approved by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) which supervises global scientific researches, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Dr Mohammad Saif al Kuwari, director, Environmental and Municipal Studies Institute in the Ministry of Municipality and Environment attended the second meeting in Germany along with an expert from Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI). 

Meanwhile, the scientific team in Qatar invites experts and specialists from a number of national universities, institutions and organisations as well as specialised research centres to attend the scientific seminar and present their experiences and initiatives related to food, water and energy. One of the famous farms of Qatar has also been invited to the meeting to showcase its experiences in use of sustainable water systems. During the seminar, international models and global smart systems which aim at reducing consumption of water and energy for irrigation purposes will also be presented.
