Ezdan Holding Group has sponsored Tajer, a community outreach programme organised by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a member of Qatar Foundation, said The Peninsula.

The programme drew 50 students from 15 secondary schools to develop their skills in e-Commerce and expand knowledge in latest economic developments. The students were able to learn more about the business administration programme at CMU-Q. The session hosted economic experts who shared business expertise and explained how to manage stock exchange operations, securities and prices change. Lectures on how technology contributes to transform and extends the application of markets to daily life, were also held.

Ali Mohammed Al Obaidli, CEO, Ezdan Holding Group, stressed the Group’s keenness to sponsor and fund the initiative as it targets cooperation with educational institutions to support economic and human development and scientific research. “The Ezdan management seeks to strengthen ongoing education initiatives, which constitute an important stream in spreading economic awareness as Tajer implies. “There is no doubt that in Qatar we need to develop the economic culture and pave the way for outreach opportunities since they serve Qatar National Vision 2030 which seeks to build a modern society based on knowledge economy culture.”

He also stressed the Group’s keenness to support educational initiatives in the future and promote cooperation with CMU-Q and the education sector in general. Ilker Baybars, Dean and CEO, CMU-Q, said, “As students apply and prepare for university, CMU-Q is pleased to offer secondary school students an insider’s view of financial markets and trading and the business administration programme.

“We are grateful for Ezdan Holding Group’s involvement and look forward to partnering again on future educational and community initiatives.” The Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CMU-Q on cooperation in the fields of scientific research, strategic studies, scholarships, exchange of business administration specialists and researchers, information systems, executive education, national capacity building, scientific conferences and community development.

The partnership is part of the Group’s societal responsibility and interest in human development and the advancement of individual skills. The MoU reflects the Group’s strategy to follow best practices and global standards, particularly in investing in human resources through sustainable plans that include upgrading the performance of young people, enabling them to come out with innovative solutions to meet economic and social challenges.
