Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, affirmed the State’s keenness to provide the best health care services to the population and that in view of the great progress achieved in the health system, the hard work will continue to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

In a statement on the opening of Al Waab Health Center yesterday, the Minister said that the opening of the Al Waab Health Center is part of the large expansion plans in the health facilities, which include the opening of primary health care centers in different parts of the country. This is to ensure that all residents receive high-quality care in health facilities close to their homes, in order to achieve our health strategies that emphasise primary care as a key focus of the health-care model.

The Minister pointed out that the comprehensive and integrated services in new health centers, which are person-centered and work in partnership with individuals, families and the community, have been taken into account to improve their health and well-being in order to achieve the vision of the primary health care strategy, QNA reported. Director of Al Waab Health Center Dr Mariam Saif Al Musallam, explained that opening of the centre confirms the primary health care commitment to the geographical expansion process and its keenness to facilitate access to health services for all patients. She pointed out that the opening of Al Waab Health Center will reduce the pressure on the surrounding health centres, which leads to upgrading the service provided, pointing out that the areas of the Center will be increased in the future.

Dr Mariam Saif Al Musallam pointed out that the area of the centre is 7,903 square meters and has a capacity of 35,000 patients. The number of registered people since the initial opening to date is about 8,000, with a rate of 300 patients per day. The centre will have 18 doctors and the number of medical staff will be increased according to the increase in the number of registered patients until the full capacity of the centre is reached. Al Musallam pointed out that Al Waab Health Center offers a range of integrated health services including but not limited family medicine clinics, non-tertiary diseases clinics, women’s health clinic, follow-up of pregnant and postnatal care, child clinic, vaccination and routine immunization clinic, dental clinics, nutrition, audiology and physiotherapy, as well as supporting medical services such as health education, radiology, ultrasound imaging for pregnant women, gynecological diseases and others.

The Primary Health Care Corporation has opened and operated two health centers in the first half of this year, namely Al Wajba and Muaither Health Centers.
