Mr. Al Khater said the Blood Donor Center at HMC and the Corporate Communications Department have joined forces to promote World Blood Donor Day through media campaigns and supporting various events and activities. Mrs. Siddiqa Al Mahmoudi, Medical Director of Blood Donor Center, said World Blood Donor Day is celebrated in Qatar and globally to express gratitude to voluntary blood donors who are helping save the lives of patients with life-threatening diseases.

She said that for the fifth consecutive year, the Blood Donor Center has achieved a 100 percent voluntary blood donation rate - the highest in the region. “Thanks to the innovative blood donation awareness programs we have initiated at HMC. We are playing a vital role in nurturing the culture of blood donation in the community and helping attract more voluntary blood donors,” she said. “The blood donation effort is helping supplement the strategic reserve of the blood bank and in meeting the needs for safe blood and its derivatives by both public and private healthcare facilities in Qatar.”

Mrs. Al Mahmoudi said HMC's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is playing a pivotal role in improving the standards of blood transfusion in Qatar according to the provisions of the National Health Strategy.
