Qtel today announced an incredible new permanent price reduction for its BlackBerry Internet Service, delivering more data and great value for all its customers.

Starting from 21 September, the weekly price for Hala BlackBerry will be just QR15, a reduction of more than 50 percent.

For Shahry customers, the monthly fee for Shahry BlackBerry will be QR60 per month, another incredible saving.

In addition, customers will receive 250 MB of data each week as part of the package – providing a total of 1GB every month for both Shahry and Hala BlackBerry users.

Qtel is also removing the activation fee for all new customers, offering yet more value for customers.

Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Operating Officer, Qtel said: “This very significant initiative is a direct result of our ongoing discussions with our customers, and our promise to continue delivering real value and great service. Our BlackBerry Internet Service is incredibly popular, and BlackBerry devices play an increasing important role in the lives of many people in Qatar.  In order to support this, we have made these permanent reductions in the costs of the service, and increased the value by boosting the amount of data for each customer.”

The high level performance, functionality and features of BlackBerry work best with Qtel’s advanced 3G HSDPA network, and businesses and consumers across Qatar have embraced the potential of the online lifestyle. As an added bonus, all Shahry customers who use the Shahry Value Packs 300, 575 or 1000 services will now get the full BlackBerry Internet Service free of charge as part of their pack.

A recent survey from Bayt.com and YouGov showed that 72 percent of Qatar respondents spend three hours or more online, and the new Qtel offer supports this by providing the best free monthly data allowance in Qatar.

With 1GB included every month, Qtel customers can spend more time online, updating their Facebook page and keeping in touch with friends and family.

Hala customers can easily sign up to Qtel’s BlackBerry service by sending an SMS with short code BB to 121, and they will receive a notification SMS confirming that the service is activated.

Shahry customers can sign up for the BlackBerry service by simply calling 111 to activate.

Alternatively, they can drop into any Qtel Shop to learn more about Qtel’s BlackBerry service, and see the incredible range of the latest BlackBerry devices in-stock at Qtel.
