The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) have intensified inspection of food establishment during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

A joint coordination meeting on Thursday agreed to form a working group to implement a joint campaign on all food establishments within the Al Wakrah Municipality. The meeting was attended by Director of Municipal Control Department, Head of Health Control Section of Al Wakrah Municipality, head of the Inspection Department at the MEC and members of the South Security Department of the MoI. The Health Control Section had already intensified inspection campaigns on food items.

Health inspectors from the Doha Municipality carried out intensive inspection campaigns on food establishments, especially restaurants, cafeterias and nuts shops, to make sure they comply with the food safety regulations. The inspectors asked the administrators and workers at food establishments to comply with the food control regulations by wearing proper cloths, head wear and shoes as well as maintaining personal hygiene. Similarly, the Health Control Section of the Umm Salal Municipality has carried out 60 inspections at food outlets since May-end, leading to closure of one shop for violating health requirements.

They have also disposed of 9 slaughtered animals for being unfit for human consumption. As many as 30 inspection tours were conducted on women's salons. Inspectors from the Technical Control Department conducted 112 miscellaneous inspection tours at construction site and detected 52 violations. The Public Control Department pasted 35 posters on abandoned vehicles.
