Japanese Ambassador to Qatar HE Shingo Tsuda, in cooperation with the Japan Foundation, donated 84 Japan-related books to Tariq Bin Ziyad Independent Secondary School for Boys on Tuesday.

The school has started teaching Japanese language to its students following the decision of the Supreme Education Council to include Japanese language in independent schools as one of the second languages since 2012.

The donation ceremony was attended by Principal Hamad Mohamed al Mannai and 12th grade students who have been learning Japanese language and achieved remarkable progress.

Ambassador Tsuda expressed his wishes that the donated books would contribute in enriching the students' knowledge on Japan and would further motivate them to deepen their interest in Japanese language.

This is the second time for the embassy to donate Japanese books to the school after the decision to implement teaching Japanese language. The books are in Japanese, English and Arabic languages, and cover various aspects of Japan including history, literature, social sciences, arts, cooking, pop culture and others. The embassy is maintaining a close relationship with the Qatari educational institutions to promote Japanese language in Qatar.
