With the perfect timing of cold weather, the ‘third beach clean up activity’ was carried out by LafargeHolcim (LH) Qatar, a private company recently as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

A total of fifty six volunteers participated in a joint event by two LafargeHolcim members, Readymix Qatar Ltd. & Al Jabor Cement Industries. With the approval and support of Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), Sealine Beach in Mesaieed was selected as the location for this initiative wherein a total of 746kg of waste was collected.

The main purpose of beach clean up is to raise people’s awareness in preventing pollution and preserving aquatic resources. With this, ‘5 Environment Rules’ were also introduced during the beach clean up programme by Mohit Kapoor, Country Chief Executive Officer of LH Qatar. LH Qatar is highly committed in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. In fact, it participates every year in ‘No Paper Day Campaign’, implements an internal reward and recognition programme ‘Staff Sustainability Award,’ and applies various environmental initiatives within the company’s business activities.

Tree planting activities in all commercial readymix sites of LH Qatar are also upcoming next year. As a member of LafargeHolcim, the organisation will remain consistently active in supporting global long-term ecological balance by being eco-friendly and implementing ‘green’ initiatives.’
