Sasol, the international integrated energy and chemical company marked the opening of its new office in West Bay, Doha with H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry and distinguished guests from the oil and gas sector and diplomatic community.

Present in Qatar since 2008, the move to upgraded offices located at The Gate, will better accommodate Sasol Qatar’s operations and facilitate continued business development and support to ORYX GTL. His Excellency Dr. Al Sada expressed pleasure at the inauguration of the new offices, which he said “marks the continued presence and investment of Sasol in Qatar."

Dr. Al Sada said “Qatar Petroleum and Sasol have enjoyed an excellent working relationship through the ORYX GTL joint venture”. He added that “this cooperation has been important to augmenting Qatar’s international standing as the world leader in the gas-to-liquids (GTL) market.”

“The new Sasol offices will help build on the strong foundations that have been laid so far towards a larger scale and scope of cooperation,” Minister Al Sada concluded.

Lean Strauss, Sasol Senior Group Executive for International Energy, New Business Development and Technology, said, "We are delighted to see the strong and mutually beneficial relationship grow over the years between Sasol and the State of Qatar. The ribbon-cutting was performed by H.E. the Minister of Energy and Industry, H.E. Saad Cachalia, Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar and Lean Strauss. Also present for the occasion were senior officials from Qatar Petroleum, Sasol’s Group Executive Committee, and ORYX GTL board members. The honored guests received a tour of the office and were entertained by traditional South African drummers, who were later joined by an Oud player for a spectacular Instrumental duet giving the audience a taste of Arabic-South African musical fusion.

The new state-of-the-art Sasol office has been designed to be environmentally friendly,employing advanced insulation solutions to reduce energy-consumption associated with air-conditioning and low energy motion-activated lighting.Care has been taken from the design stage onwards to completion to minimize carbon foot-print of the office to ensure sustainability.

Sasol maintains a strong commitment to support Qatar’s National Vision 2030 through its Corporate Social Investment, which include a variety of social, educational, entrepreneurial and environmental initiatives. To mention a few, Sasol initiated the 'Definitely Able' campaign series, which has focused on empowering the disabled community in Qatar. Sasol extended its support to the entrepreneurship community by partnering with Al Fikra Qatar national business plan competition and through an MOU with the Bedaya Center to help mentor budding entrepreneurs in Qatar.
