Shooting of Indian film Kanal (ember) in Qatar came as a bonus for many Indian fans this festive holiday season, said Qatar Tribune. The film stars popular South Indian actor Mohanlal and actress Honey Rose.

A large number of fans flocked to the Corniche and Lulu Hypermarket at Al Khor to catch a glimpse of their favourite superstar Mohanlal and watch the shooting of the film. Kanal is directed by Padmakumar. An Indian expatriate said,"I am a big fan of Mohanlal and have watched most of his films. However, I never had an opportunity to see this great actor in person. So, I am feeling very excited after seeing both Mohanlal and Honey Rose at the Corniche. It's a memorable experience for me."

The shooting of the film will continue for the next two weeks at different locations such as Doha Corniche, Banana Island and the Sealine Beach at Mesaieed. The film's storyline revolves around two families hailing from the South Indian state of Kerala who have spent some important years of their lives in the Middle East. In the film, Honey Rose plays the role of a Doha-based international school teacher who is married to John David, the character played by Mohanlal.

The film also features actors Anoop Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Pratap Pothan and Nikita Thukral. While Menon plays a media person, Kulkarni will be seen as a Gulf-based entrepreneur. Padmakumar has directed many films in Malayalam. Padmakumar's Vaasthavam has been widely appreciated by critics.
