Mondrian Doha, managed by the leading international lifestyle hospitality group, sbe, announced the expansion and reopening of Walima restaurant’s outdoor terrace, which is accompanied by the restaurant’s special new oriental culinary offering. This is part of the constant innovation that we bring to our properties for better menu and better offering.

The reopening event, which took place on 19 December at Walima, marked the launch of the new terrace with an oriental performance by Iyam El Lira, a Lebanese band formed by young talented musicians that take you back to the golden era of melodies. Walima’s terrace has expanded to accommodate a higher number of guests, while giving the restaurant’s visitors a chance to enjoy a variety of newly added oriental flavours. The expanded terrace overlooks the spectacular views of Doha’s skyline. Mondrian guests can now enjoy the restaurant’s new menu alongside a spectacular view of Qatar’s West Bay and beyond. The restaurant’s terrace is now open for dinner and is available for both private and corporate events.

Celebrating Walima’s expansion, Wael Maatouk, General Manager at Mondrian Doha, stated: “We are happy to bring this extraordinary moment at our hotel, as Walima holds a special place for Mondrian Doha guests. The restaurant now offers our guests a remarkable view alongside a fine selection of oriental dining that will ignite all senses. Set to become the latest standout restaurant in Doha, Walima is the perfect culinary match for Mondrian, with its strong influence on all of our visitors, its set to provide the most memorable experiences in town. I would like to thank the sbe group for their trust in Mondrian Doha’s choice in food and beverage outlets and wish Walima a successful journey ahead. We also welcome you to join us and get a glimpse of what Walima has to offer.”

Walima’s new menu features dishes that champion oriental ingredients such as Grilled Hammour Fillet, Rubiyan Mashawi, Aubergine Moussakaah, in addition to a wide variety of delightful courses, appetizers, slides, and beverages. Walima is a first to market concept that opened in 2018 and is the seventh culinary and entertainment venue to open at the Marcel Wanders designed Mondrian Doha Hotel. It joins a selection of world-class concepts such as CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Morimoto, Hudson Tavern, Magnolia Bakery, RISE and Black Orchid.

The restaurant remains a true manifestation of Qatari hospitality and culture since it was first designed by Dutch Designer Marcel Wanders. Walima is a true modern dining space. Inspired by local black and white garments and oriental patterns, Marcel Wander created an inimitable setting for discovering local and regional flavours from the Middle East. Cascading lanterns, bold colours, ornament shishas, a sunken majlis perfect for large family meals, along with private dining rooms offering VIPs the chance to enjoy some privacy, are some of the key features that set the scene for the Walima experience.

This announcement comes on the heels of the two-year anniversary of the opening of both Mondrian Doha and Mondrian Park Avenue. The Mondrian brand is expected to grow internationally in gateway cities around the globe, such as Mexico, Hong Kong, Seoul, Dubai, Paris and more.
