NAMA Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, has successfully concluded its 2016 Qatar National Day celebration at Darb Al Saai, which drew a huge crowd of spectators, participants, and wannabe volunteers for a good cause. NAMA’s participation in this year’s Darb Al Saai QND celebrations came in the context of bolstering values of loyalty, pride and patriotism and emphasizing the Center’s support of the country’s past achievements and its future aspirations.

In her remarks on the success of the Center’s QND celebrations, Ms. Mariam bint Abdullatif Al Mannai – Director of the Community Services Department, and the Director in charge of running NAMA’s affairs, said: “Even though at NAMA, we believe that participating in the Qatar National Day celebrations is our duty as an active player in the country’s social and economic development, it is also a joy to share the community in celebrating the country’s achievements and reviving the legacy of our founding fathers and the values that have been instrumental in orchestrating the rise of an outstanding community that has carved the name of Qatar in every domain, discipline and area all over the world.”

She added: “This year, NAMA’s festive events and community-centered activities at Darb Al Saai were an incredible success. As well as showcasing the fruits of our labor and demonstrating the tangible difference that NAMA makes through its youth-empowerment initiatives and its support of young entrepreneurs in the country, our participation built on our past successes and caught the attention of even more forward-looking youngsters, who were enthusiastic about being a part of our community-development activities and using the services and programs of NAMA center as leverage for their own personal success and creating a positive impact on their sphere of influence. We would like to direct our sincerest thanks to the Organizing Committee of the National Day celebrations, who announced a campaign for the collection of donations to support the Syrian people, following the decision of the Qatari government to dedicate the activities of the Qatar National Day to support and provide relief to the affected civilians in Aleppo.”

As part of its QND celebrations this year, NAMA Center held a number of festive events and activities that supported SMEs and young entrepreneurs, while commemorating Qatar’s independence and celebrating its heritage and culture.

At Darb Al Saai’s ‘Souq Waqif’ pavilion, the Center has granted the owners of a number of productive projects, all developed by Qatari youth who utilized NAMA’s incubation services, 25 booths to display and market their merchandise, which included traditional apparel, perfumes and incense, natural honey products, traditional dishes and beverages from the Qatari cuisine, gifts and accessories, pottery, oil paintings, spices, herbs and flowers, among others.

NAMA’s activities and its booths drew a huge audience, including a large number of youth who inquired about the Center’s activities and services, as well as ways to volunteer in its community-development initiatives, emanating from their desire to play an active role in supporting the society and the nation’s economy. Through its various programs and initiatives, NAMA works on the empowerment of youth, boosting their capabilities, and investing in their capacity, by identifying channels and programs that contribute to the activation of their participation in community development and their effective contribution to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030.
