Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, CEO, Ooredoo Qatar, and Waleed Al Sayed, Chief, Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar have today congratulated the Qatar Equestrian team for their historic win at the third edition of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping 2015 series in Abu Dhabi last week.

In a first for the country, Qatar’s show-jumping team won a qualifying event in the UAE to make the cut for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. The team also qualified for the Nations Cup, which will be held in Barcelona later this year.

The riding team, comprising of Sheikh Ali bin Khaled al-Thani, Khalid al-Emadi, Ali bin Yousuf al-Rumaihi and Bassem Mohamed, and Hamad Bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah, President of Qatar Equestrian Federation, were invited to Ooredoo’s HQ1 building in West Bay to take part in a celebration ceremony with the company. The team was also presented with a gift from Ooredoo, as a sign of the company’s support for their success and encouragement for their efforts.

Speaking at the event, Sheikh Saud said: “Our national team qualifying for the Olympics for the first time is another big step for Qatar. Not only will this inspire the next generation of riders to take up the sport, but it will raise our nation’s profile in another key sporting discipline. From handball and football, to rally driving and riding, Ooredoo supports Qatar’s sporting heroes, and we look forward to cheering the team on at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.”
