Ooredoo has today announced that it will be the official sponsor of the Qatar University team, as they travel to South Korea to take part in the Universiade 2015 competition.

The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organised for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). This year, there will be 21 competitive sports in the tournament including archery, handball, rowing, football, tennis and fencing. The 2015 Universiade will be held in South Korea’s sixth-largest city of Gwangju from 2-14 July 2015, with an estimated 14,000 athletes from 150 countries travelling to participate.

We wish the Qatar University athletes the best of luck, and ask everyone to support the team whilst they are in South Korea, to show the world that Qatar is a sporting nation that cares.”

To show its support and wish the university students luck, Ooredoo held a special ceremony at its headquarters in West Bay to present some of the athletes with their new sporting uniforms. Ooredoo asks customers to take to social media and online to support the Qatar teams’ efforts in the competition, using Ooredoo’s bigger, faster network. Ooredoo supports grass-root, national and international level sports. It has partnered with popular football club Paris Saint-Germain, local champion Nasser Al-Attiyah, and also hosts an annual marathon to encourage people to live healthier lifestyles.
