Six new health centres located throughout the State will open during the current year, the first of which is Al Ubeib area health centre to be operational at the end of the first quarter of 2015, said Director General of the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik.
Speaking at a press conference about the PHCC achievements, Dr. Abdul Malik said that 19 health centers will open by the year 2019, (6 of them to be opened this year), and 13 will open between 2016 and 2018, including the renovation of Al Kraana and Ghuwairiya. health centres " She emphasized that the organization is moving forward in its development projects in order to achieve the aspirations of the public and meet their needs. Besides increasing the number of health centres, there will be gradual increase in the number of medical and nursing staff with the opening of these centers and increase the number of working hours to accommodate more patients, she added.

Dr. Abdul Malik noted that the process of development at the PHCC included the launch of several programs and projects that keep pace with the increasing population growth, revealing in this regard steps taken for increasing the medical staff, where she said 83 physicians from all disciplines had been employed in 2014, an increase of 14.3 percent from total doctors at health centers compared to last year, in order to provide the best possible health care service, she added.
