Qatar defeated UAE 27-25 in a placement match of the 8th Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship in Jordan on Friday. Hassan Mohamed top-scored for Qatar with six goals while Hamad Abdelqadir and Omar Al-Ghfeli scored five goals each for UAE.

Qatar had defeated UAE 35-31 in the preliminary stage as well. They also drew with Japan 31-31, but the defeat to Iran stopped Qatar's progress into the main round. Qatar will take on China in their next match on Saturday. Following the match, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Handball Association and head of the team's delegation in Jordan Khalifa Tayseer, confirmed that the match was a good opportunity for young players born in 2002 and 2003, adding that the technical staff gave them the chance to participate in the match in order to gain more experience and prepare them for the coming matches.
